Reblogging again for germaneness.
Guys, I am but a humble observer of my bit of the ace community, but I feel comfortable asserting that the people who claim to throw up when they think about boobs or whatever are still in the detox phase. They are also making their comments on the internets, land of hyperbole. And even if they weren’t, tell me you have never heard of or perhaps yourself exaggerated out of bravado to hide your insecurity and try to fit in with a group.
The other thing I’d like to point out is the brand shiny new community census. Let me copy question 12 for you here.
12. What is your attitude towards sex?*
I am sex positive 73.5%
I am somewhat repulsed by the idea of (myself) having sex 40.1%
I would be willing to compromise and have occasional sex (in a relationship) 35.9%
I am indifferent to the idea of (myself) having sex 35.7%
I would not be willing to have sex 26.0%
I am completely repulsed by the idea of (myself) having sex 17.0%
I would be willing to compromise and have regular sex (in a relationship) 17.0%
Other 12.9%
I enjoy having sex 6.9%
I am anti-sexual/sex negative 5.4%
The math on this is a little difficult since respondents could pick multiple answers, but let me give you three conclusions I find relevant: 1) There are a *lot* of repulsed aces; we are not going away. 2) A substantial portion of repulsed respondents must be sex-positive. 3) 5.4% is not a big number. At all.
Yeah, I think the fact that more people didn’t ID as “sex negative” is more significant than the fact that not everyone...
*Raises hand as a repulsed, sex-positive asexual.*
Currently working on expanding my current thoughts re: detoxing and who tends to do it and why, since that post is about...
Aceadmiral, you’re my hero and I would marry you if there was a way to do so that didn’t involve well … marrying you....
