just
am I the only one who was really uncomfortable with all the comments about sherlock’s assumed virginity
it’s like they noted this show being popular with a bunch of asexual people and went OKAY BETTER MAKE THESE GUYS FEEL INCLUDED
LOOK SHERLOCK DOESN’T DO THE SEX THING. JUST LIKE YOU GUYS
BUT THAT’S PRETTY WEIRD
I MEAN WHAT KIND OF ADULT IS A VIRGIN
BUT IT’S OKAY HE STILL GETS SHIT DONE
???????
You’re not the only one :S
I really have no idea how to feel about the episode, because on one hand people have been making these brilliant cases for how asexy this episode is. But on the other… It feels more like asexuality is the punchline than an aspect of Sherlock’s character.
If they take the in a direction where all this was necessary growing pains for John and Sherlock to have some kind of queer-platonic zucchini thing that they both agree exist, then it would be faith well-rewarded. It’s not easy to have an unconventional relationship in today’s world, and I would respect that they did not pull their punches about that bit of reality.
But if they don’t… it seems gratuitous. Why make an issue out of it otherwise? Especially because John was barely even *in* the episode. By having Mycroft there, it seems that they’re trying to CYA and say, “look, you can be stone hearted even if you’re not asexual.” So then… I just really don’t understand it.
didn’t think Mycroft’s comment...be sympathetic— I thought it was clear that it was
have no idea how to feel...the episode, because on one hand people have been making these...
